Class Status within Educational Program (Applicable only to targeted subjects for undergraduate students) | This laboratory work provides fundamental experimental methods and common skills necessary for the comprehension of physical materials science |
---|
Criterion referenced Evaluation (Applicable only to targeted subjects for undergraduate students) | Integrated Arts and Sciences (Abilities and Skills) ・The ability and skills to collect and analyze necessary literature or data among various sources of information on individual academic disciplines. |
Class Objectives /Class Outline |
To understand the basic concepts and principles underlying the material science through experiments, lectures and seminars about (1) computer simulation and (2) IoT excercise are conducted in Experimental Methods for Materials Sciences B. Topic (1) computer simulation We give lectures on basic content computer simulation. Students carry out computer work. Topic (2) IoT excersize Some primitive experiments on IoT are performed. |
Class Schedule |
lesson1 Introduction of Topic (1) : computer simulation (Munejiri) lesson2 Data processing using a computer (Munejiri) lesson3 Data processing using a computer (Munejiri) lesson4 Newton's equation of motion (Munejiri) lesson5 Newton's equation of motion (Munejiri) lesson6 Computer Graphics (Munejiri) lesson7 Computer Graphics (Munejiri) lesson8 Introduction of Topic (2): What is IoT ? (Ogita) lesson9 How the Internet works (Ogita) lesson10 Programming language and Markup language (Ogita) lesson11 Laboratory work: Raspberry Pi Pico control by PC (Ogita) lesson12 Laboratory work: Raspberry Pi Pico control by PC (Ogita) lesson13 Laboratory work: Raspberry Pi Pico Control by Smartphone (Ogita) lesson14 Laboratory work: Raspberry Pi Pico Control by Smartphone (Ogita) lesson15 Summarize Topics (1) and (2) (Munejiri, Ogita)
Each student may be required to include a report on the experimental methods in a lab report of Laboratory Work in Material Sciences B. |
Text/Reference Books,etc. |
Handouts will be provided for each topics. |

Suggestions on Preparation and Review |
Read the handouts very carefully before each lesson and fully understand the concept of the experiments. Reviewing the basic knowledge of physical measurements and error analysis is also useful. It is desirable to review the nature of light (electromagnetic wave). |
Requirements |
This lecture is combined with Laboratory Work in Material Sciences B, and students must register for both classes concurrently. |
Grading Method |
attitude toward the class including active participation for experiments (50%) and a lab report(50%) |
