Criterion referenced Evaluation (Applicable only to targeted subjects for undergraduate students) | Integrated Arts and Sciences (Knowledge and Understanding) ・Knowledge and understanding of the importance and characteristics of each discipline and basic theoretical framework. (Abilities and Skills) ・The ability and skills to collect and analyze necessary literature or data among various sources of information on individual academic disciplines. ・The ability and skills to specify necessary theories and methods for consideration of issues. ・The abilities and skills to summarize one's own research in reports or academic papers, and to deliver presentations at a seminar or research meetings, and to answer questions. (Comprehensive Abilities) ・The ability to conduct research proactively by combining knowledge, understanding, and skills for the tasks, based on flexible creativity and imagination. |
Class Objectives /Class Outline |
To learn basic knowledge and experimental techniques required in analyses and interpretation of natural environments through laboratory and field studies. |
Class Schedule |
・Primary practice of topography, and water and material cycle; to extract and analyze a topographic map information and to observe a valley topography and cycles of water and material in a field scale. (1-4: Onodera, Ishida) ・Environmental geology experiments to understand the dynamics and cycles of geologically derived elements in the natural environment. (5-7: Saito) ・Geophysical fluid dynamics experiments in relation to double-diffusive convection and Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. (8-11: Ozawa) ・Chemical analysis of inorganic and organic compounds in river waters to assess river environments. (12-15: Takeda, Iwamoto) |
