/Class Outline
Religion is an important element of civilization. In the modern world, which is globalizing, learning religions is more and more important. In this seminar students read book chapters and papers of comparative religion and sociology of religion that deal with important topics of religions in the modern world (such as problems regarding the relations of religion and globalization, salvation, state and politics, economy, gender, media, war, and peace) and, through that, learn how to examine those topics from theoretical perspectives. Every student is required to make a presentation of the book chapter or paper in your charge and lead a discussion based on your presentation.
