Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This course aims to understand the siginificance of interdisciplinary approach in the analysis of problems which our contemporary society faces. They learn  it through lectures on concrete cases as well as discussions. These course works should bring up  an attitude and ability to find out  a problem and seek for its solution, which would become a basic condition to proceed to major courses starting from the second year. The class contens consist as follows: understadning the curriculum of the program in our faculty, learning some concrete cases of integrated arts and sciences, practicing interdisciplinary approach, and clarifying the aim of  integrated arts and sciences as a student of our faculty.

Preparation and
Review
Lesson 1: After listening to the explantion of research division, let's describe your opinion about what academic field or discipline you are interested in and think the reasons.
Lesson 2-5: Let's describe the interdisciplinary approach of your interest and how to further develop it as well.
Lesson 6: Let's think about the serious issues which our contemporary society has faced.
Lesson 7-13: Let's investigate the sub-themes you are in charge in. And let's make a preparation for the presentation
Lesson 14-15: Let's cooperate with other members of your same group to have a presentation.
 
Requirements Only the students belonging to the Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences are allowed to attend this course.  
Grading Method Writing and submitting a short article is required for all the students. The score is decided based on the quality of the papers as well as active participation in the group works and presentation. Also, the most excellent article award and several excellent article awards will be selected.
