授業の目標・概要等異文化間理解と関わる社会事象に関する論説・社会理論について,実践と結び付け多角的に学ぶ。異文化コミュニケーション・グローバル社会・多文化社会・フェミニズム理論等の社会理論,大学国際化や地域の国際化などの課題にも言及しつつ異文化間理解について考察する。異文化体験・カルチャーショックと異文化適応・逆カルチャーショックと再適応の現実的体験にも触れつつ,文化の構成要素,価値前提,自己概念,言語メッセージと非言語メッセージ,対人関係,組織と文化など,異文化間コミュニケーションについて学ぶ。日本の医療現場・職場・学校現場における異文化間理解の現実的課題を探るケース・スタディや地域と協働する国際的体験学習の実践的事例の分析も行い,理論と実践を結び,多文化環境において実践の方策について検討する力を養う。

This course is designed to acquire knowledge on social theories related to intercultural understanding and social phenomena from multiple perspectives. Intercultural understanding is to be examined from broader perspectives including intercultural communication, global society, multicultural society, social theories including feminist theories, and internationalization of university and local society.
Issues in intercultural communication are discussed, such as essence of culture, value system, self concept, verbal and non-verbal message, interpersonal relationships, organization and culture, including intercultural experiences of culture shock, cultural adjustment, reverse culture shock, and readjustment. Students will undertake case studies on university settings, work places, and clinical environment in Japan, and also examine the actual cases of international experiential learning to collaborate with local society. Students are expected to develop the ability to connect theories and practice, and to create their own practical designs in cultural diverse environment.
