授業の目標・概要等 |
This course is based on Academic Writing I. Students will conduct a small research project, collect and analyze data and then write a 800-1000-word research paper. This assignment will allow students to experience all the stages of writing a research paper. The instruction will help provide information on paper writing, the academic narrative, and academic integrity. |
授業計画 |
Lesson 1: The Academic Research paper: Finding a feasible topic. Task 1: Literature search Lesson 2: Organising ideas: Writing Outlines Students submit list of 10 academic papers. Lesson 3: Writing a research question/thesis statement Lesson 4: Writing the literature review Lesson 5: Writing the method section – Data Collection due Lesson 6: The results section: How to incorporate tables, graphs, and figures Lesson 7: The discussion section: How to interpret the results Lesson 8: Task: Writing the Discussion Lesson 9: Editing, proof-reading and revising Lesson 10: Consultation session Lesson 11: First Draft of the Mini Research Paper Due, Teacher's Feedback & Peer Feedback Lesson 12: First Draft of the Mini Research Paper Due, Teacher's Feedback & Peer Feedback Lesson 13: Critical Reading Practice on Journal Articles Lesson 14: Critical Reading Practice on Journal Articles Lesson 15: Final Draft of the Paper is Due
A Mini Research Paper: 800-1000 words, excluding references.
First draft of the Paper will be due in the week 6 class (lesson 11-12). Students will take the revision advice and revise the Paper to the final draft.
Final draft of the Paper will be due in the week 8 class (lesson 15). |

Copies of required material will be provided to the students via Microsoft Teams. Students should bring their laptops to class literature search and in-class writing tasks. |
