Students are encouraged to consider the selected sociology topics: modernization, social structure, social change, bureaucracy, and class reproduction. It is important for students to organize their arguments by reading the specific chapters of required books well in advance of each class.

Message This course will be conducted in person. It will be based primarily on the textbook Family in the 21st Century, 4th edition, by Emiko Ochiai (Yuhikaku, 2019), listed above. Students are required to obtain the book in advance. Students will be assigned chapters for which they will prepare and present handouts.
