Intensive Lecture by Prof. Shunichiro Ogura, School of Life Science and Technology, Institute of Science Tokyo (Host Faculty: Hisakage Funahashi)
Class Schedule 5-Aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is a natural amino acid that serves as a precursor of porphyrins, which are essential for sustaining life. In addition, various biological functions of 5-ALA have been reported. In recent years, it has attracted considerable attention as a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy in cancer treatment, making it an extremely important compound. This course aims to provide a broad understanding of the science of 5-ALA—from fundamental principles to practical applications—through lectures given by the expert.

The lecture will be conducted mainly in Japanese. English materials will be provided upon request. Questions in English are welcome.
