Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Building on the knowledge and skills acquired in Exercises in Physics I, this course further develops students’ understanding of fundamental physics. Through the study of five major areas of physics—mechanics, thermodynamics, waves, electromagnetism, and atomic and nuclear physics—students will develop a comprehensive understanding of physical concepts and principles and acquire the ability to solve standard physics problems.
Class Schedule lesson1 Introduction: Advanced Understanding and Standard Exercises in Kinematics
(horizontal projection and oblique projectile motion)

lesson2 Understanding and Exercises in Statics
(force equilibrium and rigid body mechanics)

lesson3 Understanding and Exercises in Dynamics I
(problem solving involving equations of motion with friction)

lesson4 Understanding and Exercises in Dynamics II
(comprehensive problems involving equations of motion for two-body systems)

lesson5 Understanding and Exercises in Dynamics III
(momentum, circular motion, and simple harmonic motion)

lesson6 Understanding and Exercises in Thermodynamics I (kinetic theory of gases)
lesson7 Understanding and Exercises in Thermodynamics II
(changes of state and thermal efficiency)

lesson8 Understanding and Exercises in Waves I (properties of waves and sound waves)
lesson9 Understanding and Exercises in Waves II (light waves and refraction of light)
lesson10 Understanding and Exercises in Waves III (light waves and interference of light)
lesson11 Understanding and Exercises in Electromagnetism I
(electrostatics, electric fields, electric potential, and capacitors)

lesson12 Understanding and Exercises in Electromagnetism II
(electric current, Kirchhoff’s laws, and transient phenomena)

lesson13 Understanding and Exercises in Electromagnetism III (alternating current)
lesson14 Understanding and Exercises in Atoms and Atomic Nuclei I
(electrons and atomic structure)

lesson15 Understanding and Exercises in Atoms and Atomic Nuclei II (nuclear reactions);

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review
Students are encouraged to make full use of the videos and supplementary materials available on Google Classroom when reviewing course content. The goal is to become able to solve the problems covered in class independently. Students should also attempt similar problems and develop the ability to explain physical phenomena through mathematical models and equations.
Requirements ・This course is open to international students. Priority in enrollment will be given to students participating in the Hiroshima University Morito Institute of Global Higher Education Study Abroad Program for Students of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology.
・Make active use of Google Classroom throughout the course
・Students are expected to work continuously on practice problems outside of class in order to deepen their understanding of the course material.

Grading Method Grades will be based on quizzes (60%), homework assignments (40%), and self-assessment. Final grades will be assigned using a five-level grading scale: S (Excellent), A (Very Good), B (Good), C (Pass), and F (Fail).
Practical Experience Experienced
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it The instructor has extensive experience teaching high school physics. Based on this professional experience, the course emphasizes a deep understanding of physical phenomena and provides systematic instruction in university-level physics. Exercises in Physics II covers not only standard physics problems but also moderately advanced problems to further develop students’ analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Message It is important not only to memorize formulas and key equations but also to understand the processes and reasoning through which they are derived. Through problem-solving exercises, you will develop the ability to think physically, apply fundamental principles to new situations, and deepen your understanding of physical phenomena.
