This is an Introductory level Japanese language course.  This course is placed as "Level 1" course among five level of courses (Introductory, Elementary, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, and Advanced Level). This class is for people who have never studied Japanese before.

Students will be able to:
(1) Communicate on basic everyday topics such as themselves, their families, their hobbies, their daily routines, and how they spend their free time.
(2) Produce and understand speech composed of basic grammar, sentence structures, and vocabulary, and recognize several basic kanji characters and the compound words containing them.

Requirements ・Students who are placed into Level 1 based on the placement test and not a native speaker of Japanese.
・Required to take 2 classes per week
・This class must be taken together with 日本語入門/Introductory Japanese A-2 
Grading Method   Students are graded applying the following formula.
・Class participation --- 20%
・Grammar Practice Sheet and Writing Practice Sheet of each unit --- 50%
・Oral exam(oral presentation)---10%
・Written exam --- 20%
*The formula is subject to slight change. 
Practical Experience  
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it  
Message Students are required to write an essay and to work on Grammar Practice Sheet and Writing Practice Sheet and submit them at the end of each unit.
