Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Following Basic Korean I, II, and III, this course is conducted through two coordinated weekly sessions to further develop students’ command of fundamental Korean grammar, vocabulary, and expressions and to foster basic communicative competence in Korean.

This course is an advanced course designed for students who have acquired the fundamentals of Korean. It aims to further develop students’ ability to apply previously learned material in a more advanced manner and to engage in a wider range of everyday communicative situations, while deepening their understanding of Korean society and culture. Through the use of audiovisual materials such as Korean films and K-pop, students will examine the relationship between linguistic expressions and their social and cultural contexts, thereby deepening their understanding of Korea as a neighboring country and enhancing their intercultural competence.
This course aims to provide systematic instruction in more advanced grammatical expressions while enabling students to integrate previously learned material to communicate about more complex topics, including experience, ability, obligation, conjecture, and sequences of actions. In addition, through film-based materials, the course seeks to deepen students’ understanding of Korean society, history, and culture and to cultivate the ability to relate language to cultural contexts.
1. Students will be able to understand and appropriately use expressions of experience, ability, obligation, conjecture, and sequences of actions according to context.
2. Students will be able to construct conversations on more complex topics, including the use of colloquial styles and natural discourse expressions.
3. Through films and historical materials, students will deepen their understanding of Korean society and culture and develop a multifaceted perspective on other cultures.
