In response to the demands of globalization, this course aims to cultivate the communication skills needed to access and disseminate information in various foreign languages, while enabling students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills and deepen their understanding of diverse languages and cultures. 
Expected Outcome1. Students will be able to use a foreign language to engage in everyday communication both orally and in writing.

2. By utilizing multiple foreign languages, students will be able to develop an understanding of diverse languages and cultures. 
Class Objectives

Through two coordinated weekly sessions, this course introduces fundamental Korean vocabulary, expressions, and grammar and provides systematic training to develop students’ basic communicative competence in Korean.

This course is an elementary-level course that follows introductory Korean study. It aims to develop skills in reading and writing Hangul as well as elementary everyday conversational ability, while deepening students’ foundational understanding of Korean society and culture. Through the appropriate use of audiovisual materials such as Korean films and K-pop, students will learn language and culture in an integrated manner, thereby fostering a fundamental understanding of Korea as a neighboring country and promoting intercultural awareness. 
Class Schedule This course aims to enable students to use fundamental Korean grammatical structures to engage in simple interactions in everyday situations.

1. Students will be able to use expressions of location, suggestions, and intention to carry out basic daily conversations.

2. Students will understand and appropriately use vocabulary and expressions related to everyday situations such as dining (ordering), making appointments, schedules, and telephone conversations.

3. Students will deepen their understanding of Korean food culture and interpersonal relationships (including hierarchical relationships) and develop the ability to view other cultures from a comparative perspective.

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review
1. Complete the assigned preparation in advance and review the meanings and pronunciations of new vocabulary before class.

2. Listen to the audio of the text (dialogue) at least three times in advance and come to class having familiarized yourself with the content.

3. Review the vocabulary, expressions, and grammatical items covered in each class to ensure retention.

4. Submit all assigned tasks by the designated deadline. 
Requirements The Tuesday (5th–6th periods) and Thursday (5th–6th periods) classes are conducted as coordinated sessions. Students must enroll in both and may not take only one. 
Grading Method Grades will be determined based on the following guidelines:
Coursework: 20–40%; Final exam: 60–80%.

Message Some of you may feel anxious about learning Korean for the first time. However, once you understand how Hangul works, you will find it to be a highly logical and systematic writing system. In this course, we will carefully build a strong foundation and gradually experience the joy of “understanding” and “speaking.” Do not be afraid of making mistakes—practice actively and speak out loud as much as possible.
