Class Objectives
/Class Outline
As a foreign language course within the liberal arts curriculum, this course aims to develop students’ vocabulary and grammar skills that form the foundation for receiving and transmitting information in English. The course also aims to help students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for everyday communication in English.
While the course uses learning materials at approximately the TOEIC L&R 500 level, its purpose is not limited to test preparation. Rather, it focuses on building core language skills as a foundation for continued learning toward higher proficiency.

In this course, students will systematically study vocabulary, grammar, and English comprehension using ALC NetAcademy, with the goal of strengthening their fundamental English skills. In addition, students will use the TOEIC Collocation System supervised by Tetsuya Yasukochi, which focuses on learning natural word combinations (collocations), to deepen their understanding of clear and appropriate English expressions.
Through self-directed learning using online materials, students will also develop autonomous learning skills, enabling them to identify their own learning challenges and continue studying in a planned and sustained manner.

Class Schedule Students will access the designated learning materials and engage in self-directed English study.
Further details will be provided in the course guidance.

As this course is based on self-directed learning, students are expected to plan their study schedule independently and engage in steady and continuous learning.
Requirements For students retaking courses:
For students retaking courses, it is technically possible to enroll in both "Communication Basic I" and "Communication Basic II" in the same semester. However, based on the data of the success rate of students who have previously taken these courses simultaneously, we strongly recommend enrolling in them one at a time for better planning.
Grading Method ALC NetAcademy

First TOEIC Mock Test …… 5%
Second TOEIC Mock Test …… 20%
