If a student is absent for more than one-third of the classes, they will, in principle, not be permitted to take the final examination. |
| Grading Method |
Assessment will be conducted based on the following criteria: (1) Organization and Development of Writing Students can connect sentences appropriately and produce coherent paragraphs or short essays. Students can clearly express their ideas and opinions in a logical flow. (2) Appropriateness of Written Expression Students can write with an appropriate style and tone according to the purpose of the text and the relationship between writer and reader. Students can use suitable formats and expressions in practical writing such as letters and emails. (3) Vocabulary, Grammar, and Accuracy Students can use the vocabulary and grammar necessary for writing appropriately and convey meaning accurately and effectively. Grades will be determined comprehensively based on classroom learning activities and examination results, according to the following distribution: Assessment Breakdown ・Tests (including quizzes, writing tests, and the final examination): 40–60% ・Assignments (in-class and out-of-class writing tasks, drafting, revising, and submission): 40–60% Grading Scale Final grades are based on the total score (out of 100 points) according to the following criteria: 90–100: Excellent 80–89: Very Good 70–79: Good 60–69: Satisfactory 59 or below: Fail
Participation in class and assignment submission status will be considered as reference factors in the evaluation. |
