【Objectives】 Through advanced-level study of Korean, this course aims to develop practical and advanced language proficiency that enables students to communicate information about their own academic fields in Korean and to serve as direct bridges between Japanese and Korean societies and cultures within their respective areas of expertise.
1. Students will be able to actively utilize contemporary ICT (Information and Communication Technology), such as the Internet, to independently search for, analyze, and disseminate information related to Korea. 2. Students will be able to give short presentations in Korean introducing their own academic fields. 3. Through content-based instruction, students will develop the ability to express opinions and engage in logical discussions in Korean on topics such as comparisons between Japanese and Korean society and culture, global issues, and other current affairs. 4. Students will be able to analyze issues related to peace and coexistence from the perspectives of direct violence, structural violence, and cultural violence, and discuss social challenges in Japan and Korea in Korean. 5. By enhancing language awareness and language learning awareness, students will acquire language learning strategies that can be applied not only to Korean but also to other foreign languages, including English. 6. By the completion of the program, students will aim to pass either the Hangul Proficiency Test (Pre-Level 2) or Level 6 of TOPIK II (Test of Proficiency in Korean) administered by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea.
【Course Overview】 During the second term, the course aims to help students talk about “my town” in Korean. Each theme in the course schedule below will generally be covered over two class sessions. The class will be conducted in the following manner.
1. Text Interpretation Students analyze distributed materials such as newspaper articles, news transcripts, Korean high school textbooks, and essays to learn advanced Korean vocabulary, expressions, and grammar. 2. Content Confirmation and Expression Practice Students answer questions related to the materials and practice expressing their own opinions appropriately in Korean. 3. Discussion Students reflect on the themes, consider their impressions and questions, and discuss them in pairs or small groups. The outcomes are shared with the entire class through presentations or chat input. 4. Assignments Students complete written assignments given during class (including research-based tasks) and submit them. 5. Sharing and Feedback Submitted assignments are shared and compared in pairs or groups during the following class session. Selected examples are explained by the instructor and feedback is provided to the entire class. |
