Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Students are able to understand the contents of Architectural Environment I and II deeply, and to learn the operation of variable measurement tools and the methods of data collection and analysis.
Class Schedule lesson1 Guidance
lesson2 Evaluation of energy efficiency of detached houses 1, Introduction
lesson3 Evaluation of energy efficiency of detached houses 2, Outer wall insulation performance
lesson4 Evaluation of energy efficiency of detached houses 3, Outer wall insulation performance
lesson5 Evaluation of energy efficiency of detached houses 4, Energy simulation
lesson6 Measurement of amount of ventilation
lesson7 Measurement of daylight factor
lesson8 Masurement of noise
lesson9 Measurement of various types of temperature
lesson10 Masurement of PMV
lesson11 Masurement of energy
lesson12 Air-conditioning facility tour 1, Pre-learning
lesson13,14 Air-conditioning facility tour 2,On-site tour
lesson14 Analysis of urban environment by GIS
lesson15 Air-conditioning facility tour 3, Presentation

In the“Evaluation of energy efficiency of detached houses" section, students will learn the evaluation method using the web-based program required for determining compliance with the Energy Conservation Act, based on drawings of actual high‑insulation houses.
In the measurement section, students are divided into groups and conduct a series of laboratory measurements related to built environmental engineering, rotating through different experiments in each session.
In the “Air-conditioning facility tour" section, students learn about the  central heat‑source air-conditioning system in a campus and conduct an on-site observation. They then give a presentation on the findings obtained during the tour.

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review
In the “Evaluation of energy efficiency of detached houses" section,  a part of manual of web-program is distributed. Students should review it before a lesson.
In the measurement section, students should review a textbook, because the contents of some experiments are not included in Architectural Environment I and II.
Requirements It is desirable that students ask a teacher and TA positively, to solve questions and/or unclear points in a lesson.
Lateness is strictly prohibited, because some experiments spend whole 90 minutes of a lesson.
Grading Method Reports of “Evaluation of energy efficiency of detached houses" (40%), reports of experiments (40%), and presentation after the site-tour (20%).
