Suggestions on Preparation and Review |
Before Class: Among the Dravidian languages, Tamil literary language is considered to have the richest and most distinctive features, similar to Sanskrit among the Indo-European languages. Lesson 1: No preparation is necessary, but explanations from the next few sessions will be provided in this session. Lessons 2-4: It is recommended that you read the designated passages in Emeneau 1984. Lessons 5-6: Read the designated passages in Krishnamurti & Gwynn. Lessons 7-8: Read the designated passages in Bhaskararao. Lessons 9-11: Read the designated passages in Droese and Mahapatra. Lessons 12-13: Read the designated passages in Kobayashi & Tirkey (2017). Lesson 14: Read the designated passages in Ali & Kobayashi (2026). Lesson 15: Instructions will be given during lessons 2-14. |
