/Class Outline |
This course aims to understand the framework and various aspects of Indian Mahayana Buddhism while mastering the methods of interpreting Sanskrit original text, Tibetan translation, and the commentary by Prajñākaramati. This academic year, the focus will be on Bodhicaryāvatāra (Chapter 4). Students will meticulously analyze the Sanskrit original texts and Tibetan translations, critically examine modern translations (in French, German, English, Japanese, and Chinese), and explore the most rational interpretation. |

| Requirements |
Knowledge of basic Sanskrit grammar is required. Since this course also deals with the Tibetan translation, it is recommended to take "Introduction to Tibetan," which is offered in the first semester. |
