This lecture focuses on the higher education policy on tuition fees and student aid, aims to compare trends and issues in Japan and other countries. In some countries, college tuition is set free and inexpensive, while in other countries high tuition fees are charged. The government needs to provide financial support, such as grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study to guarantee the right to study in higher education and equal opportunities for students who are difficult to enter the universities for economic reasons. However, the method varies from country to country and is not uniform. Therefore, in this lecture, reading of academic papers on tuition fees and student aid policy, report, carried out the debate, to consider the ideal way of tuition fees and student aid policy. |
