Class Objectives /Class Outline |
The class deals with various issues of contemporary society through cultural anthropological lens. The topics dealt with are: social development of Global South, which includes such focuses on social policy, poverty, security and care; sociality and community, state and government, market, civil society and NGOs as actors of social inclusion / exclusion; neoliberalism and precariousness of contemporary world; globalization and cross-border migration. Middle to advanced-level English ability, including reading the academic text and engaging in logical debate, is required for all the participants. |

Requirements |
Middle to advanced-level English ability, including reading the academic text and engaging in logical debate, is required for all the participants. It is recommended for the students to enroll in "Basic Cultural Anthropology II" offered in the 2nd term as well. |
