Class Objectives
/Class Outline
This course will discuss the major trends, theories, and mode of thoughts in cultural anthropology. Particularly, the class will introduce how anthropological theories and thoughts are constructed through focusing on the development of the concept such as; self, agency, subject/subjectivity, power and practice. Also, it will discuss how various ethnographies focused on the people's cultural practices in various social settings. Through this course, the students will be able to get basic / fundamental ideas, or broad sketch, of cultural anthropology. Students are required to read the assigned materials and write a short report before each class. Middle to advanced-level English ability, including reading the academic text and engaging in logical debate, is required for all the participants.

Students are instructed to read the assgined articles, write a short report, and submit to the instructor before each class. Based on those readings and reports, the students are encoraged to actively participate in discussion during the class. 
Requirements Middle to advanced-level English ability, including reading the academic text and engaging in logical debate, is required for all the participants. Students are recommended to enroll for the class of Contemporary Anthropology II offered in the 4th Term as well.  
Grading Method The score will be made based on the evaluation of students attituted and participation during the class, ability to complete the reading and writting assignment for each class, and term paper.
