Class Objectives
/Class Outline
We expect the students to have a chance to contact creature directly in nature to understand biodiversity and to create an opportunity to be able to see biology from many sides. 
Class Schedule The following content will be held in an intensive format for 3 days and 2 nights.
1. Lecture on animal classification and ecology
2. Collection of organisms in the intertidal zone
3. Plankton collection using plankton net
4. Collection of microorganisms in marine soil
5. Collection of a luminescent animal, sea firefly
6. Classification according to higher taxonomic groups of collected organisms
7. Identification and sketching of individual organisms
8. Summary and general discussion

All students are expected to read general books on animal diversity and illustrated books on marine animals prior to the practice. 
Requirements Course code HL800000 and HL800001 can be credited for only one subject.

The total number of participants is 20 including those from other universities.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation costs to the marine biological laboratory in Mukaishima-cho, Onomichi City, where the face-to-face training will be held, as well as food expenses during their stay at the laboratory.

If you have any allergies other than food or drink to food or specific organisms, or any other peculiarities, please contact us in advance. Please note that due to the circumstances of the place where the meal is ordered, it is not possible to specify or change the ingredients.

The data, assignments, and all that collected, created, and submitted by the students in relation to the class may be used and published as teaching materials for the Hiroshima University in the future. Please note that when you submit your request to take this class, we will treat it as your agreement to the above. 
Grading Method A grading will be given by evaluating practical attitude and report, comprehensively.
