This course is designed to provide a critical overview of the criminal justice process and its related issues.  Concepts of crime, laws, and justice are discussed, and general theories of crime causality are examined.  Special emphasis is placed on the components of the criminal justice system: the police, the court, and the field of corrections. This course offers diverse perspective on each component.

The lecturer will give quizzes instead of exams. In addition, there will be homework using the interactive tool (app) (not very time-consuming) and reports.

Review
The lecturer uploads the premade (worm-eaten) class notes in advance. Just skimming through them before class will be excellent preparation for the course, but adding more explanations in your own words during the class will  help you  prepare for the quizzes. Please use your laptop or bring a printed copy to fill in the blanks. 
Requirements Students have to complete some online-based assignments. All materials for this class are uploaded on Canvas. To access Canvas, students  just hit “accept” when they receive an email from WOU CANVAS.

Message Students interested in American criminal justice and willing to take a classes in English are welcome to join. Let's discuss whether what happens in American TV dramas (CSI, Law & Order, etc.) is accurate or fiction and what criminal justice brings us about. 
Other Share your thoughts/ideas with your classmates. Even if you have a different opinion, it will help stimulate further discussions! Questions, consultations, and chat outside the classroom are also welcome.

This class will be held in August 18th - August 22th.
