In this lecture, students will understand the basic theories and concepts related to social security, and through them, learn about the purpose, functions, and significance of social security in modern Japan. Students will also understand the reality of social insurance, public assistance, and social welfare systems in contemporary Japanese society, based on the structural changes in Japanese society and the development of social security from prewar to postwar and up to the present (overseas examples may be introduced as appropriate). In the last part of the class, we will discuss the development of the youth employment support system in Japanese society as a case study, and consider its significance and challenges as a social security system, as well as its potential for future development.
