Class Objectives
/Class Outline To understand the characteristics of Japanese painting and fresco painting. To understand the characteristics of production tools. To learn the basic content of expression of two-dimensional works as a lifelong activity through hands-on experience with a variety of drawing materials, and to acquire knowledge and skills useful for teaching expression of two-dimensional artworks in the field of education in the future.

Session 4: Layers in two-dimensional works (motif creation) ①
Session 5: Layers in two-dimensional works (motif creation, sketching) ②
Session 6: Layers in two-dimensional works (selection of drawing materials) ③
Session 7: Layers in two-dimensional works (production planning and research) ④
Session 8: Layers in two-dimensional works (idea development, preliminary drawing) ⑤
Session 9: Layers in two-dimensional works (main production: differentiated drawing based on motifs) ⑥
Session 10: Layers in two-dimensional works (main production: differentiated drawing based on motifs) ⑦
Session 11: Layers in two-dimensional works (main production: detailed depiction) ⑧

A book on painting materials will be introduced in the first class.

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review If you are not able to finish your artwork within the class time, you will be required to do so outside of the class time.
Students are required to submit their works in the 9th and 15th sessions.

Requirements Specialized Subject for Teaching (Painting)

Students from other courses or departments must consult with and obtain permission from the instructor in advance.

For Sessions 1-7, students need to bring watercolor painting tools. All consumable materials used for production (wooden frames, panels, fabric, mediums, etc., which vary depending on individual production needs) are at the student's own expense.

Grading Method Submit an artwork report after each class.
Completed artwork is to be submitted in the 9th and 15th classes.

Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it A faculty member who has experience in creating and exhibiting artworks will lecture on pictorial expression, drawing on that experience.

Message I hope that students will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills that will be useful in teaching painting expression in the future in educational settings. Also, I hope that students will have the opportunity to develop their own unique production methods.
