Class Objectives /Class Outline |
This course aims to understand the framework and various aspects of Indian Mahayana Buddhism while mastering the methods of interpreting Sanskrit original texts and their Tibetan translations. This academic year, the focus will be on Bodhicaryāvatāra (Chapter 4). Students will meticulously analyze the Sanskrit original texts and Tibetan translations, critically examine modern translations (in French, German, English, Japanese, and Chinese), and explore the most rational interpretation. |

Requirements |
Basic knowledge of Sanskrit grammar is required. Since this course also involves Tibetan texts, it is recommended to complete "Introduction to Tibetan," offered in the first semester, in advance. |
