Class Objectives
/Class Outline In this course, Japanese Tourism is taken as an example to understand the basic concepts of tourism geography. The social and political background for tourism development in Japan will be discussed. Special emphasis will be on the regional structures that have been created through tourism and themselves create tourism.  Through the example of Japan, impacts of tourism and tourism development can be assessed. The following themes will be discussed:

13 Sustainability, resilience and overtourism: impacts of tourism on destinations (SDGs), Group Presentations
14 Group Presentations
15 Group Presentations; conclusions

Each theme will consist of a lecture part and a part where students work in groups or make presentations. Stundents will discuss one topic connected to tourism and present their results in class.

Any mails concerning this class should include the class name "Japanese Tourism" in the mail title.

Grading Method Tasks in class or homework: 80 points
Group presentation and report: 20 points
If students miss a class, they will miss the assignment in that class and therefore the points. In case of illnes, some of the tasks can be handed in later to make up for the missing points if the teacher is contacted before the class.
