Class Objectives /Class Outline |
This tutorial course will require the students to challenge themselves by creating their own mini projects through groupworks. Students will utilize their own fields of professions to cultivate international viewpoints, integration of liberal arts and natural science and multi-disciplinary approach. At the end of this course students will acquire the methodology of Integrated Arts and Sciences. During the course, study groups composed of several students from different fields and nationalities will be formed. Each group members will choose their own groupwork theme out of four preselected themes (“Modern Risk”, “Creation and Imagination”, “Integrated Information” and “Civilization and Environment”). Each of these themes deals with multitude of issues and difficulties engulfing modern society. The goal of these groupworks are to discuss and analyze the chosen theme’s problems, solutions and methods of approach. Finally, students are required to make a presentation regarding their chosen themes, based on a multilateral approach. |

Since groupwork are the main focus of this course, each student will be required to gather information and create handouts according to themes selected by their groups. |
Requirements |
Completion of tutorial classes related to Integrated Arts and Sciences are required to complete the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Program of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Presentation in the workshop is required for the completion of this course in addition to class/meeting attendances. Students are also required to actively participate in the workshop discussions. |
Grading Method |
Grading will be based on the sum of various factors, including class and workshop participations and the quality of the presentation. Absence without notification will not be tolerated. Those who were absent from classes with legitimate reason will be given an alternate task to complete, which will be required to obtain the credit for this course. |
