Among the subjects related to Japanese language education, while conducting investigations and experiments for elucidating psychological mechanism of students or teachers, students will contribute the results to an academic journal, and summarize the research to constitute a thesis. 
Class Schedule Lesson 1: On education and learning of Japanese as second language, clarify the developing topic from a master's thesis, and set up individual theme for investigation / experiment.
Lesson 2: Reading intensively the previous research at home and abroad, pointing out unsolved problems and points to be examined, and clarify the necessity of the research.

Lesson 5: Making a research plan rooted on the psychological research methods

Lesson 7: Extra research・experiment and main research・experiment. Review the research result.

Preparation and
Review
Main advices are following.
1. To review your efforts in your master's thesis from the viewpoint whether or not additional research and experiment are necessary also.
2. It is important to read academic dissertations in a steady pace, but, if you change your study theme every time you find new knowledge, the start of empirical studies become late. Please remember this point.
3. You should confirm the basic knowledge of psychological study method as necessary.
4. Let's practice preliminary research and preliminary experiment absolutely because they tells you what you can't notice with ideas generated only by thinking.
5. It is important to participate in academic meetings related to Japanese education or the acquirement of the second language positively and increase companions in studying out of your school.
6. You should plan to make a presentation in an all Japan academic meeting once in a year at least.
7. They request you to have the extremely high ability of Japanese writing in writing a doctoral dissertation. It's important to enhance your sensitivity to the academic expressions in Japanese habitually. 
Requirements It's preferable that you have majored in both "Seminar on Psychology of Language Education" and "Advanced Studies on Psychology of Language Education" of Master's Program. You should attend both of the class of the first half term and the class of the second half term within this fiscal year. 
Grading Method I will evaluate you on the contents of oral presentation and response against Q&A (50%) and the degree of participation in debate comprehensively.

Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it  
Message Let's write a dissertation to send the academic journal and two dissertations to send a journal of this  university or others in a year with execution of empirical studies. You can learn enormous amount of things in the process until the publication of your dissertation by academic journal. I wish you to ask a question about others' research and raise your ability to see a research critically in the contents and method of the research through discussing in a class.
