Discussion about a designated theme based on reading/audio-visual materials. Basically face-to-face, but, if necessary due to health reasons, utilize online (simultaneous interactive) session.

For international students, this course aims at acquiring comprehensive understanding on education system and culture in Japan to elaborate a point of view and thinking on potential measures to improve educational issues in their home countries.

Report Assingment

If school visits are difficult to implement, supplementary lectures will be provided.
Students must spend approximately 45-hour workload for the report assignment. The term report is to be submitted as an additional paper to that for "Fundamental Knowledge on School Education in Japan" with the same theme.

No specific textbook, but reading materials in English will be distributed before/in the classes. If the students would like to have more detailed information, somebooks will be recommended as references corresponding to the student's interest and willingness.

Review
Preparation/refrection are required before/after each class. Regarding the content understanding, join the classes always with questions from the perspective of international comparisons between Japan and other countries. 
Requirements This course is set for credit transfer. "Fundamental Knowledge on School Education in Japan" (2 credits) must be registered simultaneously.
