Class Objectives
/Class Outline (Outline)
This subject will teach students how various studies in the field of educational science have influenced society, and vice versa, taking into consideration their relevance to other academic disciplines, including natural sciences and life sciences. Learning about the correlations between respective areas of study and Japanese/international society will be helpful for students to better understand what roles educational science is expected to play in creating a future society. This subject will also encourage students to explore how their individual research themes can contribute to the further development of human society so as to enhance their motivation for research.
(Total 15 lessons in an omnibus style)

Class Schedule Lesson 1: Introductory guidance to give students an overview of this subject
Lesson 2: Correlations between Japanese society and education will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus particularly on inclusive education related to examples in the concrete practical scenario designed for developmental problems respective of infant age, childhood age and youth related to the special support education which is highly needed in recent school education.
Lesson 3: Correlations between Japanese society and education will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus particularly on for whom is the university supposed to be and who is supposed to bear the burden from the viewpoint higher education policy, educational economics and educational social studies, regarding university education which is center of higher education.
Lesson 4: Correlations between Japanese society and education will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus particularly on before war and after war  history of practical field or research field  of "social education" which developed in overlap with not only school education but policy areas such as local governing and welfare, from the viewpoint of social education practical research and social education governance research.
Lesson 5: Correlations between international society and education will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on introducing efforts of international society towards educational development such as EFA and SDG4 in introductory part. In continuation, will explain the movement and problems of educational policies towards STEM education and STEAM human resource development in each country of world, starting with UK and Japan, from the viewpoint of policy making (EBPM) based on evidence of international survey results such as PISA and TIMSS.
Lesson 6: Correlations between international society and education will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus particularly on explaining and discussing from the viewpoint of quality of education, quality of teachers and teacher education, by giving examples from TALIS international survey and examples from Asian and African countries.
Lesson 7: Correlations between society and school education in Japan will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will introduce the understanding and support of children with special educational needs and discuss the fundamentals for creating a diverse society.
Lesson 8: Correlations between society and school education in Japan will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on relation of science and mathematics with natural phenomenon and social life from the viewpoint of science education and mathematical education.
Lesson 9: Correlations between society and school education in Japan will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on ①structure of textbook and change in writing and ②relation of change of social structure and nation/policy from the viewpoint of social science education. Further, will state about the effect of development in technology and information on the society and education.
Lesson 10: Correlations between society and school education in Japan will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on ①Content of textbooks and handling and ② relationship with academic ability required these days from the viewpoint of English education. Further, ①Problem areas developed by textbooks and educational material and ② relationship with the problems of students living in present society, from the viewpoint of Japanese language education.
Lesson 11: Correlations between society and school education in Japan will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on how sports science in school education became a part of physical education from the viewpoint of growth development. Further, will explain home science in school education and its relationship with home making education supporting the human life throughout lifetime, by giving concrete examples.
Lesson 12: Correlations between society and school education in Japan will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on explaining about specialty of music science and aesthetic science both being art subjects and relation between both and relation with society.
Lesson 13: Correlations between society and Japanese language education will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on the experience of language learning while studying abroad from the viewpoint of identity of the language learners.
Lesson 14: Correlations between society and Japanese language education will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on discussing the educational problems and their solutions towards the recognition of development of multiple languages and identity in children having diverse background culturally and linguistically within the country.
Lesson 15: Correlations between society and Japanese language education will be introduced to students, taking their relevance to other academic disciplines into consideration. This lecture will focus on linguistic changes and problems in communication brought upon by the increase in chances of interaction with other languages and other language speakers due to the globalization of society.

Will convert the short test conducted from Lesson 2 to Lesson 15 into out of 100 points (10*14=140 points).
