Class Objectives /Class Outline |
(Outline) This subject will introduce students to representative methodologies of the humanities and social sciences. Taking up main studies in respective areas, this subject will encourage students to consider how a series of processes, from problem finding to problem solving, have worked so as to ensure their better understanding of the characteristics of respective methodologies and differences with those in their own areas of specialization. Specific examples of research ethics in the humanities and social sciences domains will be also given so that students will enhance their awareness of research ethics required for their personal research themes. (Total 8 lessons in an omnibus style) |

Lesson 1: Introductory guidance to give students an overview of this subject Lesson 2: Based on specific examples, main research methods of various studies in the area of the humanities will be introduced. Ethical problems that can occur in the course of research work will be also presented.This lecture will focus on how paper material or library materials should be used in humanities and social sciences research where electrical medium has started to be used exceedingly by giving examples. Lesson 5: Based on specific examples, main research methods in the areas of humanities will be introduced. Ethical problems that can occur in the course of research work will be also presented. This lecture will focus on history field. Lesson 6: Based on specific examples, main research methods in the areas of economics and business administration will be introduced. Ethical problems that can occur in the course of research work will be also presented.Particularly, will focus on group research and its ethics in the field of humanities. Lesson 7: Based on specific examples, main research methods in the areas of economics and business administration will be introduced. Ethical problems that can occur in the course of research work will be also presented.Particularly, this lecture will focus on the handling of information in listening questionnaire and written questionnaires in fieldwork and consideration towards privacy. Lesson 10: Based on specific examples, main research methods in the areas of law, politics and sociology will be introduced. Lesson 11: Based on specific examples, main research methods in the areas of psychology and behavioral sciences will be introduced. Ethical problems that can occur in the course of research work will be also presented.Particularly will explain about the reference methodology of legal precedent, books and materials etc. in field of law. Lesson 12: Based on specific examples, main research methods in the areas of psychology and behavioral sciences will be introduced. Ethical problems that can occur in the course of research work will be also presented.Particularly will explain about the difference in methodology in international law, domestic law, law and political science. Lesson 13: General description of research ethics in the humanities and social science domains will be provided. This lecture will focus on the research ethics demanded in psychology and basics of psychological methodology as science. Lesson 14: General description of research ethics in the humanities and social science domains will be provided. This lecture will focus on introducing about the physiologic method used in human motor control research and research ethics problems originating along with it. Lesson 15: General description of research ethics in the humanities and social science domains will be provided. This lecture will focus on statistical measurement.
Two on-demand materials are uploaded to moodle once a week. Please select one of them and submit the assignment. Only one assignment can be submitted in a week. Therefore, submit reports on a total of 7 assignments in 7 weeks. |

Requirements |
Requirements:Students enrolling in AY 2024 or later.
If the attendance falls short of two third the total number of classes, student won`t be eligible for semester end exam or report. Carry student ID when appearing for class. |
Grading Method |
Grades will be calculated in accordance with the short test or report conducted each time. The short test or report conducted from Lesson 2~15 will be marked out of 10 points and the total of 7 times will be converted to out of 100 points (10*7/0.7=100 points). |
