This subject will introduce students to the content of research in various fields, such as literature, history, philosophy, linguistics, economics, business administration, law, politics, sociology, psychology and education, that study human beings, society and outcomes of human/social activities in light of their relevance to other academic disciplines, including natural sciences and life sciences. It is designed to help students learn the findings of respective areas of specialization so that they will not only gain a basic understanding of technicalities required for study programs at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences but also better understand various fields of study from an overall perspective. In addition to lectures, small-group discussions are also scheduled.

Class Schedule Lesson 1: Introductory guidance to give students an overview of this subject
Lesson 2: The content of research in the fields of multicultural society and comparative culture will be introduced to students in light of their relevance to other academic disciplines.  
Lesson 3: The content of research in the fields of philosophy, ethics and cultural thoughts will be introduced to students in light of their relevance to other academic disciplines.
Lesson 4: The content of research in the fields of Japanese history, Oriental history and European history will be introduced to students in light of their relevance to other academic disciplines. This lecture will focus on basic structure of the academics and historical studies.
Lesson 5: The content of research in the fields of geography, archaeology and cultural heritage will be introduced to students in light of their relevance to other academic disciplines. This lecture will focus on cultural asset studies.
Lesson 6: The content of research in the fields of Japanese linguistics, Japanese literature, Chinese linguistics, Chinese literature, European/American literature and English linguistics will be introduced to students in light of their relevance to other academic disciplines.
Lesson 7: The content of research in the field of economics will be introduced to students in light of its relevance to other academic disciplines.
Lesson 8: The content of research in the field of business administration will be introduced to students in light of its relevance to other academic disciplines.
Lesson 9: The content of research in the field of law will be introduced to students in light of its relevance to other academic disciplines.
Lesson 10: The content of research in the field of politics will be introduced to students in light of its relevance to other academic disciplines. This lecture will focus on problem setup in politics.
Lesson 11: The content of research in the field of sociology will be introduced to students in light of its relevance to other academic disciplines. This lecture will focus on explaining about academic characteristics of social sciences by giving concrete examples.
Lesson 12: The content of research in the fields of psychology and behavioral science will be introduced to students in light of their relevance to other academic disciplines.
Lesson 13: The content of research in the fields of psychology and behavioral science will be introduced to students in light of their relevance to other academic disciplines.
Lesson 14: The content of research in the field of education will be introduced to students in light of its relevance to other academic disciplines.
Lesson 15: The content of research in the field of education will be introduced to students in light of its relevance to other academic disciplines.

Only one assignment can be submitted in a week.
Therefore, submit reports on a total of 7 assignments in 7 weeks.

Requirements Requirements:Students enrolling in AY 2024 or later 
Grading Method Grades will be marked out of 10 points for each short test or report and the total of 7 times will be converted to out of 100 points.
