Psychoeducational support is a psychology-based educational activity aiming to support solving in each one of children’s mental, social, developmental, and learning issues and to promote children’s growth. Through this practical course, students are expected to cultivate the fundamental practical skills regarding psychological and educational support to children and abilities to sympathize with children with problems, and assess the situations of issues.

The major activity of the course is to participate as assistant for Learning Support or Educational Counseling Support at the “Niko Niko Room (School Education/Psychology Support Office)” which is operated by the Center for School Education Research and Development, and to attend to the case conferences, the seminars or the forums which is related to the course.
Therefore, the students will receive a guidance and lecture about psychoeducational support, its aim, and the schedule of the program on the first class.  From the second class, the students will start participating in the practicum and the case conferences.  Through the practicum and the case conferences, students will develop knowledge and skills about concrete interventional methods: showing empathy and/or grasp problem situation.
At the end of the course, summary and format of a final case report (final paper) will be explained.

"Lesson1: Read recommended books and others for reference to understand what psychoeducational support or psychoeducational support service is.
From Lesson2, books for reference will be introduced in accordance with the intent of teaching practice and the case in support activities. Read those books to deepen understanding of the theoretical background and meaning of teaching practice.

Requirements In this practicum, students are required to participate as an assistant for Learning Support or Educational Counseling Support at the “Niko Niko Room (School Education/Psychology Support Office)”, which is operated by the Center for School Education Research and Development, to attend to the case conferences, and the seminar or the forum.  The Learning Support activities are held in Wednesdays, and the Educational Counseling Support activities are held on Thursdays.  The students taking this course are required to attend to either (or both) activities.  The schedules are informed at the guidance and first class.
Note that “The practice of the psychological and educational support to the child I and II” are the prerequisite for the course.  For the students who had not met the prerequisite, but obtained required knowledge and skills for the practicum will need the approval from the instructor to register for the course. 
Grading Method Grading for the course will be evaluate by the following two categories:
-Performance in practicum (participation to the practicum/activity, development of skills) 60%
-Case Report 40%

Message This course is a one-year course: First semester (1 semester) and Second semester (2 semester).
Due to the size of the facility for practical work, there is a limit to the number of students who can take this course.
