Through reading of domestic/overseas documents on latest clinical situation or research trend in language and communication disorders, provide new observation and effective and reliable evidence.

"Following 3 items are pillars of this course.
1. Provides understanding on latest clinical situation in language and communication disorder area through reading of practical research paper and practice report. Also, regarding clinical effects covered in research paper and practice report, considers level of such evidence through individual review and systematic review.
2. Provides understanding on latest clinical situation in language and communication disorder area through reading of practical research paper and practice report. Also, regarding clinical effects covered in research paper and practice report, considers level of such evidence through individual review and systematic review.
3. Considers connection between research and clinical situation, examines ideal research design to apply research process and result to clinical situation and contribute to society. Also considers how evidence-based practice can be adapted to language disability education to execute more effective clinical method which meets educational needs for individual child/pupil."

Language and communication disorder is an important field related to various disorders. Broaden and deepen your knowledge.
 
Requirements If students are not in special needs education major and want to take this course, please consult with the instructor beforehand.
 
Grading Method Based on participation in classes (providing aggressive remarks, discussions) and reports.
 
Practical Experience Experienced  
Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it Based on the lecturer's experience as a speech-language pathologist in the U.S., the lecture will give students how the special education systems are different between Japan and the U.S., and how to work with students who have learning disabilities and other related disabilities. 
Message In order to acquire a critical reading skill, it’s necessary to read high quality articles. Also, regarding clinic, focusing on evidence-based practice, a clinic that has effectiveness and its selection method will be explored.
