Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The objectives of the course is (1) to learn various activities of peacebuilding; (2) to understand the evolution of peacebuilding theories; and (3) to deepen the understanding of peace through reflection on peacebuilding.
The course covers a number of areas/issues in peacebuilding, which presents potentials, effects and challenges of peacebuilding activities. Each conflict has its own features and thus one-fit-all approach is not the solution in peacebuilding. However, learning the efforts and discussion in the area to date would prepare us in tackling the newly arising situations.

Peacebuilding I builds your basic knowledge of peacebuilding and Peacebuilding II broadens your understanding through introduction of various approaches.

Summary of Practical Experience and Class Contents based on it I have experiences in a UN peacekeeping operation as well as peacebuilding in an international organisation. On topics related to peacekeeping and peacebuilding, my comments will include the perspectives of a practitioner. 
Message It is compulsory to read the specified material for each class in advance. Active participation in discussion is expected. In Peacebuilding II, we will use literature which covers multiple issues so that you will learn what happens in complex peacebuilding reality.
