This course is designed to acquaint students with Louise Erdrich’s Future Home of the Living God (2017), a novel belonging to the literary genre called “Cli-Fi.” The focus of the course is to learn about the historical and cultural background of the text and to practice reading literary texts critically. We will examine the complexities and dynamics of the text and explore various themes including climate change, gender, sexuality, (post)colonialism, and “slow violence.” |
