Students find out biologically important questions about oral and brain functions, design the research projects, construct the experimental strategies, and investigate the molecular, cellular, and system mechanisms underlying those physiological functions.

Students study the function and dysfunction of the systems of taste sensing, salivary secretion, mastication, swallowing, feeding control, emotion, and so forth by exploring their molecular and cellular mechanisms, their physiological relevance, and their pathophysiological aspects caused by functional deficits of specific molecules.
