Class Objectives /Class Outline |
Students will learn basic experimental knowledge and techniques for medical and biological research in small groups. |
Class Schedule |
There are eight practices. 1 Wednesday, October 2nd, 9:30-12:30 "Review of molecular biology" Students will understand DNA,RNA and protein structures, molecular genetics and the biochemistry of transcription and protein synthesis. Each student receives the assignment from Teams and completes it at home or in the lab. You are required to provide your laptop and writing implements.
2 Wednesday, October 9th, 9:30-12:30 "Transfection DNA Plasmid into Mammalian Cells” Students can carry out basic cell-culture and transfection techniques properly and safely on the 6th floor of Building A. Please come to the front of room A610 at 9:30 a.m. You are required to provide your lab coat and writing implements.
3 Tuesday, October 15th, 9:30-12:30 "Protein gel electrophoresis part1” Students will learn about principle and technique of protein gel electrophoresis using SDS-PAGE. In addition, they will set up gels and perform on the 6th floor of Building A. Please come to the front of room A610 at 9:30 a.m. You are required to provide your lab coat and writing implements.
4 Wednesday, October 16th, 9:30-12:30 "Protein gel electrophoresis part2” Students will detect targeted protein expression using ECL reagents with the ChemiDoc imaging system on the 6th floor of Building A. Please come to the front of room A610 at 9:30 a.m. You are required to provide your lab coat and writing implements.
5 Wednesday, October 23rd, 9:30-12:30 "Purification of nucleic acid” Students will learn about principle and technique of nucleic acid purification, reverse transcription and cDNA synthesis on the 6th floor of Building A. Please come to the front of room A610 at 9:30 a.m. You are required to provide your lab coat and writing implements.
6 Wednesday, October 30th, 9:30-12:30 "PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis” Students will design primers for targeted genes and learn about principle and technique of PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis on the 6th floor of Building A. Please come to the front of room A610 at 9:30 a.m. You are required to provide your lab coat and writing implements.
7 Wednesday, November 6th, 9:30-12:30 "Real time PCR” Students will quantify the expression levels of the target gene and endogenous control gene by real time PCR. on the 6th floor of Building A. Please come to the front of room A610 at 9:30 a.m. You are required to provide your lab coat and writing implements.
8 Wednesday, November 13th, 9:30-12:30 "Data analysis and review of the class” Students will learn about principle and technique of mRNA expression level quantification by real time PCR. Each student receives the assignment from Teams and completes it at home or in the lab. You are required to provide your laptop and writing implements.
