Class Objectives
/Class Outline
Student will learn firsthand from supervisor and vice supervisor, and make master thesis. Review of text or paper, seminar, numerical experiment, data analysis etc, under the guidance of supervisor.

This lecture will begin from the latter half of the first year semester.
Using a combination of text and paper readings, as well as spreadsheet software Excel and statistical software JMP (partially EZR), you will learn about the basics of biostatistics and data analysis.
However, there will be no involvement in mathematical statistics, Excel macros, or R code programming.

Class Schedule Examples of clinical research and epidemiological studies
Visualization of data (JMP)
Descriptive statistics (JMP)
Population and sample, point estimation and interval estimation
Concept of hypothesis testing (JMP)
Sample size (JMP, EZR)
Analysis of cross tables (JMP)
Scatter plots and regression analysis: correlation coefficient, simple regression analysis, exponential function model (JMP)
Confounding adjustment using covariance analysis (JMP)
Is odds ratio an approximate value of relative risk?
Confounding adjustment by logistic regression analysis (JMP)
Survival analysis, representation of life prognosis (JMP)
Data integration and aggregation using Excel: SUBTOTAL, VLOOKUP, Pivot Table
