Objectives By taking this course, students will Gain understanding of gender equality issues in Japanese society: education and work place, gender issues in international context, women’s empowerment, women and local society from historical perspectives, and gender related social issues. Learn to critically examine the way Japanese women/men have been represented socially, culturally, and historically, and its reality, through fieldwork in a local industry, local high school, and joint study. Gain basic understanding of feminist theories in the context of Japanese society

[Undergraduate Student / Graduate Student] **Schedule can be changed since it needs to be arranged with local school, local government, and local industry, etc. Due to the capacity of the Bus for field trips, only the limited number of students can take this course (if the course is offered face-to-face only.) Criteria for the Final paper differs depending on the student’s status. Graduate students are required to write a longer paper.
