Class Objectives
/Class Outline The course will be offered online to students from all over the world. It starts with an overview of UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), followed by introducing some Japanese companies and organizations (including NGOs or NPOs) to take interesting and innovative approaches to build a peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable society. We will analyze and discuss the characteristics and challenges of these companies and organizations by paying particular attention to some key concepts such as social entrepreneurship (and by visiting some of them headquartered in Hiroshima). Students are expected to deepen their understanding of the issues through group presentations on given topics and class discussions (using various methods) facilitated by the instructors.

Review A good literature search is an essential element for successful presentations and final reports. Students are encouraged to make good use of university libraries as well as Internet resources. Students are also strongly advised to practice oral presentations, using PowerPoint slides.

Requirements Students of HUSA, AIMS, and PEACE Program have higher priority to register in this class. Non-exchange or regular students may register for the course, but if the total number of registered students exceeds 30, we may limit the number of seats available to these students.
