Class Objectives /Class Outline |
1) Practice of listening and explanation of Japanese sounds as they appear in movies. 2) Enlarge students' vocabulary by giving explanation about the meaning, and usage of lines by actors. 3) Increase understanding of the behavior patterns of Japanese people. 4) Increase students' knowledge of Japanese culture and society through the topics dealt with in the movies. In this class, explanation of vocabulary, grammar and speech sounds used in each story will be given. |

1. Orientation. Watching and giving explanation of vocabulary, grammar and speech sounds of “Noda-san’s girls talk” 2. Watching and giving explanation of vocabulary, grammar and speech sounds of “Still we’re hoping” 3. Watching and giving explanation of vocabulary, grammar and speech sounds of “From smoking area for the past” 4. Applied practice. 5. Watching and giving explanation of vocabulary, grammar and speech sounds of “Noda’s name.” 6. Watching and giving explanation of vocabulary, grammar and speech sounds of “When a woman meets a man.” 7. Watching and giving explanation of vocabulary, grammar and speech sounds of “From smoking area for the past” 8. Applied practice.

Requirements |
"Level5" proficiency in Japanese (Authorized by Morito Institute) is required. Students with Level4 proficiency or below may not be able to sit in on the class in any ways. It is possible that registrations are not admitted or canceled depending on the number of the students. This class must be taken in combination with Advanced Japanese Cinema A-2 |
Grading Method |
Essay(30%), In-class assignment(50%), Contribution to the class(20%). It is required to attend at least 6 of the classes to have credits. |
