Class Objectives
/Class Outline
The objective of this course is to develop student’s communication abilities in basic contexts using the Spanish language. The course level will be mainly A1 and will include a first contact with the A2 level. In the classes we will practice the language skills (speaking, listening, writing, and reading), with a focus on the oral skills. We will learn grammar, expressions, and vocabulary by using them in real contexts and situations. Students will become familiar with relevant aspects of the culture and society of the Hispanic countries.

El objetivo del curso es que los estudiantes aprendan a comunicarse en situaciones básicas en español. El nivel de la clase es DELE A1, con un primer contacto con el nivel DELE A2. Practicaremos las destrezas lingüísticas (expresión oral y escrita, comprensión auditiva y lectora), con especial énfasis en las habilidades orales. Aprenderemos la gramática, las expresiones y el vocabulario en contextos reales. Los estudiantes se familiarizarán con los aspectos socioculturales de los países hispanohablantes necesarios para usar el español.

Review
Students are expected to participate and contribute actively to the class, particularly during pair and group activities.
Please, prepare each class following indications by the instructor. At the end of each unit there will be compulsory tasks to practice and increase oral and written skills.
To learn more and more efficiently, students should monitor their own progress.
Class will be held mostly in Spanish.

En esta clase, es necesario que los estudiantes participen activamente, ya que realizaremos diferentes actividades en parejas y grupos.
Los estudiantes deberán preparar las clases con antelación según las indicaciones del profesor. Al final de cada unidad se pedirán tareas para practicar los contenidos.
Los estudiantes deberán llevar el control de su propio aprendizaje para aprender de manera más eficiente.
En clase usaremos principalmente el español. 
Requirements Be sure to take all 4 classes per week, including Basic Spanish I (2 classes per week), which is paired with the Intensive Spanish 1A class.
