Liberal Arts Education
This course is a beginner level Korean language course. It is designed for students who can read and write Korean, and aims at mastering grammar and simple conversation. In addition, Korean dramas, movies, and K-Pop videos will be used as teaching materials to acquire basic knowledge of Korean society. 
Expected OutcomeAcquire basic Korean language skills.
1. Acquire simple phrases.
2. To be able to conjugate verbs, adjectives, etc. to some extent.

Suggestions on
Preparation and
Review
1. Listen to the text at least three times in the audio file before coming to class.
2. Prepare for the parts of the lesson that will be taught in class and look up the meanings of new vocabulary. 
Requirements 1. The ability to read and write Hangeul is a prerequisite.
2.Do not be absent from class as much as possible, as it will hinder your understanding of the class content.
3. Absence, tardiness, and poor class attitude will be taken into consideration for the grade. 
Grading Method The following is a general guideline for the overall evaluation.
Ordinary marks: about 20-40%, Regular examinations: about 60-80%.
The final examination will be conducted in person in principle, but may be conducted online depending on the situation.

Other The course name will be changed to "Basic Korean I" for students enrolled in 2018 or earlier who have completed the course and earned credits.
