Class Objectives /Class Outline |
To develop students’ basic communication abilities in the Spanish language by acquiring reading, writing, listening and speaking skills equally through learning pronunciation, basic grammatical items, and simple conversational expressions. Accustom and familiarize students with the histories, cultures and lifestyle habits in Hispanic regions such as Spain, Latin America and Caribbean areas. |

[1] Introduction – about Spanish language [2]-[3] Spanish alphabet, pronunciation, intonation, accent [4]-[8] Greetings, personal pronoun, basic sentence structure, linking verbs, noun (grammatical gender and number), noun and adjective, article (agreement of gender and number), preposition, interrogative, numbers [9]-[15] Verb conjugation (present, regular), basic sentence structure, idiomatic phrases

Prior to the class: Consult a dictionary for unknown words. Read the textbook over and over. Read Spanish sentences aloud. Answer practice exercises. After the class: Review words, important phrases and structures that are targeted in class. Re-read the textbook. Read the sentences aloud again. |
