Grading Method |
Based on the description in the syllabus, the following items should be taken into account when planning classes and evaluating students:
(1) Text Types and Structure Students should be able to: 1. Identify a range of genres and types of text; 2. Understand text structure; 3. Understand cohesion in texts; 4. Distinguish between formal and informal registers.
(2) Strategies and Cognitive Skills Students should be able to: 1. Use strategies such as skimming and scanning; 2. Comprehend texts; 3. Infer information from texts. 4. Read passages of text at a reasonable speed;
(3) Grammar and Vocabulary Students should attain sufficient lexical and grammatical knowledge to read the types of text such as those listed under “Contents” of the syllabus.
(4) Attitude Students should: 1. Demonstrate a positive attitude towards communication activities; 2. Endeavor to overcome any breakdowns in communication that may occur. |
