Class Objectives
/Class Outline Analyzes and considers historical/social background, philosophy and system of special needs education. Also, considers what classes of special needs education should be based on new curriculum guidelines.

Class Schedule Lesson 1　Reason of modification from special education to special needs education (focused on comparative institutional analysis)

Lesson 2　Worldwide special needs education；Analysis and discussion on the trends in US/Europe, etc.

Lesson 3　Worldwide special needs education；Analysis and discussion on the trends in international organizations

Lesson 4　Special needs education and it social and economic backgrounds；The relationship between Warnock Report and New Liberalism. Analyze and discuss on its strategies.

Lesson 5　Trends of special needs education in Japan；Analyze policy changes from the period of education for the handicapped.

Lesson 6　Relationship between special needs education system and relevant laws  such as School Education Acts.

Lesson 7　Trends of special needs education（Discuss and analyze relevant laws in other departments: Basic Act for the Disabled Persons, Basic Program for Persons with Disabilities, Plan for Persons with Disabilities）

Lesson 8 Discuss and analyze a revision of the curriculum in special needs education（General provisions）

Lesson 9　Curriculum for special needs education １:Effect of changes in the curriculum

Lesson 10　Curriculum for special needs education 2：Case study

Lesson 11　Curriculum for special needs education 3：Vocational guidance

Lesson 12　Discuss and analyze the relationship of the curricula in general education and special needs education.
