Field trip and the practice and training of the marine science during a sea cruise in Seto Inland Sea by the training and research vessel, Toyoshio-maru.

Students gain a broad information of traditional culture and various human activities deeply related with Seto Inland Sea, which improve their understandings of the significance and importance of "Sato Umi".
 
Class Schedule 8/6 (Tue): Scheduled 13:00 Affiliated training ship Toyoshio Maru Base (7-4 Takaramachi, Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture 737-0029) Meeting, embarkation / departure, inspection of fishing boat operation and lecture on board, Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture Anchor off the coast of Miyaura Port, Omishima
8/7 (Wed): Scheduled around 08:30: Arrival at Omishima Miyaura Port, Hakata Salt Industry Omishima Factory Tour, Omishima Maritime Museum Tour, Observation, etc.
8/8 (Thu): Depart Miyaura port AM8:00, visit Mitarai, the historical port town. Depart 12:30, 14:00-17:00 Research survey on the sea water condition and benthic animals. Anchorage stay at PM5:30-AM11:00 of the next day. During the stay, the data presentation meeting will be held.

8/9 (Fri):Visit Fishery branch of Hiroshima Prefectural Technology Research Institute, closing ceremony after arrival at Kure port, breaking up around PM12:30. disband

Preparation to get information of the historical and traditional culture of Seto Inland Sea will be helpful.  
Requirements ● About 5,000 yen will be collected for meals and sheets washing during class.
(Breakdown): Food expenses 3 meals a day = 1,600 yen x 3 days, sheets washing fee 462 yen
● Transportation expenses before and after the meeting and dissolution place will be borne by you.
● For cancellations made one week before the event, the meal fee will be charged, and for cancellations made one day before and during the event period, the full participation fee (about 5,000 yen) will be charged.  
Grading Method Positive and functional activities on board and inspection tour: 50points

Other ● Meeting time: Please have lunch on the day of the event (August 9th).
Training ship Kure Base (7-4 Takaramachi, Kure City) by 13:00
● What to bring: Medical insurance certificate, change of clothes, athletic shoes (slippers are not allowed for deck work), rain gear (umbrella), top and bottom of work clothes (long sleeves, long trousers), writing utensils, toiletries, towels, etc. I will lend you. Washable on board), fishing gear (if you have one)
● Accident insurance: Please take out accident insurance equivalent to student education and research accident accident insurance (Japan International Education Support Association) in advance.
● If you are unavoidably absent, please contact the Student Support Office of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences, Hiroshima University at least one week before the event. If you are unavoidably absent or late just before, please be sure to contact us.
● This class is offered to students of the Faculty of Bioproduction, Hiroshima University, other faculties of Hiroshima University, and students of other universities.
