Class Objectives
/Class Outline
First, the basics of pathogenic microorganisms and the concept of disease will be explained. This will be followed by a discussion of pathogenic viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens of various hosts, including humans, fish, and plants, as well as disease topics. Methods of disease control will be outlined, and time will be devoted to breeding for disease resistance, which is one means of disease control. The latter five classes will focus on host defense, especially immunity. Finally, the development of pharmaceuticals directly related to industry will be introduced.
